Aid For Romanian Children

Welcome to the CopDrop Website. We are a group of Lincolnshire Police Officers who have supported the orphanage at Tatarai in southern Romania. Over the years we have also been able to help in other places, we hope YOU can help us in our cause. We hope you will take the time and trouble to browse the pages.

The over-riding thing that binds us all is the abhorrence of the scenes we have seen on our TV screens, of the abject misery that children in Romania have suffered and are still suffering as a result of the hardship imposed by the Ceausescu regime back in the late 1980's.

Even now, orphan's suffer in that country. They are better provided for now, but progress is still painfully slow by the now democratically elected Government, in their efforts to give them a better quality of life.

Romanian politician Nicolae Ceausescu became leader of the Romanian Communist Party in 1965 and president in 1974. Ceausescu ruled Romania using stern neo-Stalinist methods for almost 25 years until his bloody overthrow and execution on December 1989. The true extent of his corrupt nepotistic regime only subsequently became apparent.

Who Are We?

Most of us are members of the Lincolnshire Police Service with more years service than we care to admit to! Others who have joined CopDrop are locally based. We are all family people and some of us have moved on to grandparent status.

Our aim, quite simply, is to help orphaned, handicapped, educationally challenged or unwanted children and young people existing in Romania.

To that end, CopDrop is throwing its weight to relieve poverty and promote preservation and protection of good health among children and their carers.
